However, some mistakes can make you pay dearly and even for a lifetime whether the mistake was done intentionally or accidentally. Here are 5 tennis world champions that confessed their regrettable mistakes that has changed their lives forever.

Despite being the top in the Grand Slam winner list, a few worst moments in their lives as tennis players had a significant impact. Having done a thorough research, I found out that most of the mistakes committed by these tennis world champions could have been avoided.

However, due to having a poor judgement at that time the Grand Slam winners jumped from a frying pan into the fire.

1. Rafael Nadal

As of October 2020, Nadal topped the Grand Slam tournament with 20 titles. Nadal has won several titles in Wimbledon, Australian Open, French Open, and the U.S Open. He is among the outstanding tennis champions in the world among the tennis men’s Grand Slam winners.

Not all Nadal Grand Slams was a walk in the park, some were tough moments. Rafael Nadal had a confession to make about a mistake he has been doing that he now has to live with regrets.

In an interview to Mundo Deportivo, a Spanish sports newspaper, Nadal had a confession to make concerning his injuries. As documented by Tennis World USA, Nadal says ‘many times I push my body to the limit, I will definitely have to face it in the future. The knees, feet, joints and hip. We are in a hard sport and we play on a very aggressive surfaces’.

The confession came when Nadal was nursing his injuries and realized he has been doing too much of injustice to his body. For instance, Nadal faked his capability to play the 2012 Wimbledon tournament with a knee injury that had not yet recovered.

Before she got banned in her tennis career for her mistakes, Maria Shapova had won 5 titles of the Grand Slam tournament including 2004 Wimbledon, 2006 US Open, 2008 Australian Open, 2012 French Open, and 2014 French Open.

In fact, of all tennis Grand Slam winners, Serena tops in tennis Grand Slam winners most titles winner. As an outstanding tennis player, she had had a number of bad days in the filled most of which she has been heavily fined.

During the practice for the 2019 Wimbledon tournament, Serena found herself in the wrong side of the All England Club. Serena threw her racket on the tennis court during the practice that was alleged to have damaged the court. In fact, Serena was penalized $10,000 for her racket damages.
